Learning

St Mary's educational vision

At St Mary's we use contemporary practice to empower students to develop a love of learning. We foster success and exemplary values. Through collaboration in an inclusive, nurturing environment, we shape citizens for the future.

We recognise that we are all learners - students, parents and staff.

Our teachers are collaborative, critical and creative thinkers who ensure students receive instruction appropriate to their individual needs and ability levels.

Whole class, small group and individual instruction as well as peer tutoring form a part of the day to day of each classroom.

Our School Officers work alongside classroom teachers to support individual and small group instruction within the classrooms.

Flexible Learning Environments

At St Mary's School, we understand that every student learns differently. That's why we offer flexible learning environments tailored to meet diverse learning styles and needs. Our spaces feature adaptable furniture designed to facilitate collaboration and innovation, empowering students to take control of their educational journey.

School curriculum

St Mary’s School is proud of its small class sizes. In all circumstances, planning, assessing and reporting addresses the Australian Curriculum and meets strict guidelines mandated by Queensland Curriculum and Assessment Authority and the Toowoomba Catholic Schools Office.

The Learning Areas taught across our school are: Religious Education, English, Mathematics, Health and Physical Education, Science, Humanities and Social Sciences, The Arts, Technologies and Languages (Auslan).

The school curriculum is continuously being redeveloped, evaluated and updated in line with educational changes. Integrating set curriculum with everyday life skills and events within the Catholic context is a priority.
